Rain

Watching the rain, I recede from the day
And I have paused…
Outdoor plans will wait
Other things will be done today
Simple tasks that have waited for this morning
Human things thought unimportant while skies are clear.
A day that words may be read and written
A time for pacing and patience
Listening for the wind
Watching round ripples on shallow pools.

Evening Rain
After the evening rain the sky clears and the air smells of sweet ginger
the dust is rinsed away, the thirst of birds is quenched

Walk in the evening rain
let the salt of the day dissolve.
Feel the urge to stomp in puddles

  1. What a beautiful poem!
I love the rain! I love the smell and beauty afterwards…and, of course, the puddle stomping.
    HUGS!!! 🙂
