Time’s Vanishing Digits

Posted: September 3, 2014 in poetry

Time passing in one minute intervals
only adding seconds to minutes to hours
but stealing years from our lives.
Chiseling away at bone and muscle and   –    mind.
The ticks of the liquid quartz clocks are silent now.
Only a low unheard 60 cycle hum of vanishing digits.
As if by a thief silently stealing away our passage.
Listen as the loud tick-tocking of the pendulum
‘Tis gone from our sleepless nights.

  1. Excellent! Those first three lines are so true, so well weaved, and they captured me in! 🙂
Time is a stealer. I’m always finding ways to enjoy it while it’s marching forward.
And it seems to move faster with each new season of life. I try to stay a kid 😀 so I’m always in Summer mode! 😉 😛
    HUGS!!! 🙂

    • Thank you Carolyn! And Happy Birthday Week! 🙂 Stay like that kid! And why is it that time seems to go faster the older we get? It must be because we are having more fun. 😀

      • I will always be the kid in any room…no matter how young the youngest person is. 🙂 One time one of my great nephews (who was 4 at the time) said to his Mom (about me…his great-aunt) “That girl is fun! She always likes to play and color and run!” 🙂
