That Wavy Glass

If you could peer through that wavy glass,
on the other side, it isn’t covered in silver
It is only a thin shiny grey coat of paint
and there is nothing more .
The mirror shows only a thin reflection
of my messed-up hair and unshaven face.
There is nothing more in that square frame.
If it could only show the way I feel,
the good or bad that I see
or the light or heavy touch of my hands,
it may be of tangible value.
But that thin mirror shows no more
than the faint reflection of what others already see.

  1. So true!
    Well-written, poignant-poem DSS!
Yes, if only mirrors could show how we feel, etc.
And I can’t help but wish more people would look past their outer image and work on their important “innards”…heart, soul, mind, attitude, etc. πŸ™‚
Hope your week is going well so far!
    Happy Toots-Day!!! πŸ™‚

Well done and thought provoking. Of course the mirror and the camera are limited in what they show of a person but of course emotions are often reflected – sadness, joy, worry, anger. Still – we are so much more than that reflection. I hope you are well. peace to you
